Hiking

If there is a place where mountaineering and mountain hiking are glorified, it is definitely Epirus.

Crossing its canyons and climbing its peaks are truly unique experiences.

Hiking in Mitsikeli

Mitsikeli (1,810m) rises between the majestic mountains of Pindos and is reflected in the calm waters of Lake Pamvotida. The name of the mountain is of Slavic origin and means "the bear's nest". It is a mountain with two distinct features. The side facing south and east is bare, with the limestones "shining" in the distance, while to the north and west the mountain is covered by dense forests.

The hike in Mitsikeli – Ioannina starts from the Shelter of E.O.S. of Ioannina at an altitude of 1,280 meters. It is a circular route that climbs above the vegetation zone and leads us to the top of the mountain at 1,810 meters. From there, we admire the amazing view towards the forests of Zagori, the ravine of Vikos, Lake Pamvotida and the city of Ioannina, as well as towards all the great mountains of Pindos.
